Thus sun in her sweet warmth replies

@ Mike: In the German language, the sun is female and the moon male, although in many other languages, for example in English, the sun is male and the moon female. Thus the irritation. It’s because in most languages the words and their genders have been derived from the Roman language, while in Germany these words have Indo-Germanic roots.
